About SqlinSix
"When I was in 4th grade, I completed a science fair project that compared batteries. I measured how long batteries lasted and included the cost per minute. At the time of the contest, I favored one of the batteries personally because of humorous marketing. That favorite battery of mine didn't last the longest, nor was the best cost per minute.
From this project, I learned to put aside my personal view of things and measure as precisely as possible. I did not win first place in the science fair. I mailed each battery company a hand-written letter showing a summary of my findings (including hand-drawn graphs and tables!). One of the battery companies replied with a letter, a toy, and some free batteries. I fully admit that in 4th grade, a toy beat a blue ribbon.
This early project started my journey in data. I learned that if I had a question, I could create a test, measure data, and come to my own conclusions. While I didn't know it at the time, this project later helped me quickly see the inaccuracy of many inflation measures. Since 4th grade, I have continued doing my own research as well as completing data and research project for clients.
In 2009 I began the largest study on the Millennial demographic at the time and completed the study in 2011 with predictions. For the next few years, I spent time speaking about marketing to the Millennial generation based on the data and analysis I had done. This early project equipped me with the tools to store and query data quickly, along with thinking about how to store data. From this project, I began working on data projects for clients in finance, insurance, energy and manufacturing.
Readers can view a list of articles I've written for MSSQLTips and SQLShack. In addition, the old SQL In Six Minutes YouTube videos are here. Students with interest in data can find the latest version of Automating ETL on the SqlinSix Gumroad store."
From Our Founder
SqlinSix started as a YouTube channel that our founder used to catalog repetitive problems and solutions. Previous to the channel, our founder faced the challenge of out-of-date software information. Content produced as a solution or explanation often worked at one time and without evidence. He used videos to catalog what worked using demonstrations, while also recognizing that future editions could make a solution irrelevant. As the channel grew in its niche, it expanded to data and security topics - some videos which can still be viewed to this day.
Today related to data solutions, SqlinSix provides on-premise data solutions such as fully supporting the data lifecycle or migrating data in the cloud to data on-premise. SqlinSix also assists in the physical data industry.
SqlinSix rarely offers research services anymore except under certain conditions and with certain clients.
