Gold Versus Gold Mining In 2023
In 2023, most physical gold instruments outperformed several gold mining baskets. The gold community found this odd because gold mining is perceived as a leverage instrument on gold. In this research, I research gold and gold mining.

Public Snapshots
USA Inflation
Terms.
The infrequent social terms that appear on this page are defined on this page as follows:
Social poverty. The social behavior of isolating yourself away from people who see or view the world differently than yourself [1]; see echo chamber, cancel culture and boycott as common examples of social poverty.
Background.
Since SqlinSix was founded by a researcher who still has data on both battery length and cost, the founder observed how easily data could be manipulated in ways the public might never uncover. After this observation, the founder began tracking other resources.
Alternatives.
SqlinSix avoids social poverty. SqlinSix highlights three sources that show inflation since 2000 (or earlier). SqlinSix also notes the highest inflation reported by these sources - one of which is part of the US central bank.
Federal reserve. Reports since 1913. Highest annual inflation reported since 2000 is 8% in 2022 (see Annual Percent Change (rate of inflation) column).
Investopedia. Reports since 1929. Highest annual inflation reported since 2000 is 7% in 2021 (see Inflation Rate YOY, From Previous Dec. column).
US inflation calculator. Reports since 2000. Highest annual inflation reported since 2000 is 8% in 2022 (see Ave column).
Index of Random Years.
Due to changes from artificial intelligence lifting information sources as its own without approval from those sources, SqlinSix shows a few random years for its own general inflation index. Given that SqlinSix highlighted the highest inflation reported in the above three sources, SqlinSix will note that the highest annual inflation it has found over the same period since 2000 was 19.37% (2007).
Year 2004. Index value 15.04
Year 2011. Index value 32.03
Year 2023. Index value 50.88
You can read a few specific examples here: general grain example, urgent care visit example. SqlinSix tracks three inflation indexes - general, base and granular.
Pricing
Background.
In 1989, a signed copy of Judy Shelton's The Coming Soviet Crash cost $22.50 in a year when gold cost approximately $401 per troy ounce (gold ranged from the 300s to 400s in 1989).
1 troy ounce of gold equals 31.1035 grams of gold.
1 troy ounce of gold equals 310.035 decigrams of gold.
Judy Shelton's 1989 book cost 0.0561 troy ounces of gold (the result of $22.5 divided by $401).
This means that Judy Shelton's 1989 book cost 17.3929635 decigrams of gold in 1989.
Pricing.
SqlinSix prices all products in decigrams of gold, though the actual payment must be in the legal tender of the buyer's legal jurisdiction (such as the Egyptian Pound for a buyer in Cairo).
The Golden Asteroid Story
SqlinSix shares the Golden Asteroid story from its founder and highlights how this foreshadows many coming surprises:
"In 2015, I gave a talk at a cryptosphere discussion on gold. My talk addressed how people around the world tend to view gold and why a cryptosphere project addressing this at the time (Digix) made sense.
One audience member remarked that gold wasn't rare because it was all over asteroids. You will find this belief common within the cryptoshere community. Since he made an assertion, I had a few questions for him about his assertion.
I asked him how much gold existed on the average asteroid. He didn't know.
I asked him how many metric tonnes of rock are needed to be extracted to get 1 troy ounce of gold on Earth. He didn't know.
I asked him how much would it cost to land robotic mining equipment on an asteroid. He didn't know.
I asked him how much would it cost to transport 1 metric tonne of gold from an asteroid to Earth. He didn't know.
I asked him how much the latest moon landing cost the United States - this felt like an easy question to answer for an American since the latest moon landing occurred in 1972. He didn't know.
I stated, 'The nominal cost for the 1972 moon landing was approximately $450 million dollars. If you accept the official inflation statistics, then adjusting for inflation would mean the cost of the 1972 moon landing would be over $125 billion as of 2015. Let's say we lucked out and it only cost us $50 billion. To break even with costs - not profit from our asteroid adventure - what would the cost of gold need to be per troy ounce to offset $50 billion for 1 metric tonne of gold?'
He had no idea.
I held nothing against this audience member. Whether he knew it or not, his critical thinking reflected search-engine-and-24-hour-news-cycle brain."
